Our new offering, Holistic Parenting Circle, is starting this week on Thursday, March, 7, 2024 from 9-10:30am for families with young children. Led by Stephanie Buckley Mason, we'll be taking a look at Holistic Parenting in general and why Stephanie felt called to create this space. We asked Steph to let us know a little more about it, so enjoy reading!

What is Holistic Parenting?

Holistic Parenting embraces green and non-toxic living, nonviolent communication, and natural health. It is about parenting your children and caring for their health spiritually, emotionally and physically and understanding under these practices that they are all entwined

How did you get started on this journey? And why do you think we need groups like this?

While I was pregnant with my first daughter in 2009 I was given a copy of The Baby Book by Dr. Sears, which is an amazing resource and not only a book about ages and stages, but a beautiful introduction to attachment parenting. Upon reading that book, my deep dive into holistic parenting began. In my early days of motherhood, I found lots of support and knowledge by attending different groups (La Leche League, Holistic Moms Network and Boston Babywearers). I’m still in contact with many of those families and still lean on them for support. In early 2022, I learned I would be expecting another baby girl (my third but after a 10 year gap) and found that many of the groups I attended were no longer meeting or only meeting virtually. I believe people, women (especially mothers), need community and a safe space to gather with their young children and find strength, information and community. I spoke with my dear friend and fellow holistic mama, Sandy Bernier, and discussed a circle being hosted by The People’s Congregation of Shakers and Movers and she was on board! I hope to share information, speakers, books and love with other parents in the community. The group, without an official framework, can really be whatever we need it to be and I look forward to gathering input from all who attend.

We will meet the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 9-10:30 am for community and conversation. Please join us an RSVP here as space is limited.
